Getting the most from NRT

Combine a patch with a short-acting product (gum, lozenge or spray) — the combination approach is the most evidence-supported way to use NRT. NICE guidance recommends it as first-line.
Start within a week of deciding to quit — the sooner you start, the better the chance of success.

Free NHS stop-smoking support is available through your GP practice and local stop-smoking service; we don’t run an NHS stop-smoking programme here, but we’re happy to point you to it.

Already vaping? Switching from smoking to vaping is a recognised harm-reduction step — the NHS endorses vaping as a quit aid. We can advise on transition; some quitters then ladder down from vaping using NRT.
