About Hyde Park Pharmacy
A community pharmacy on Woodsley Road, between Hyde Park Corner and the University of Leeds. We work for our neighbours — students, families, long-time Leeds residents — and for everyone in the UK who needs a careful, registered pharmacy online.
What we do
We're a fully registered NHS and private community pharmacy. That means we do everything you'd expect of your local chemist — NHS prescriptions, advice on minor illness, vaccinations, travel jabs — plus the newer services that are reshaping community pharmacy in the UK: Pharmacy First clinical pathways, New Medicine Service, NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service, blood-pressure checks, and the private services families increasingly want close to home (travel clinic, weight management, blood-test panels).
Online, we sell over-the-counter and pharmacy ("P") medicines — under the same standards as our walk-in counter. Every P-medicine sale on this website is reviewed by a pharmacist before payment is taken, using questionnaires we built from each medicine's official Summary of Product Characteristics.
Our values
Pharmacist-led
Every clinical decision is made by a registered pharmacist. Software helps us be thorough; it doesn't replace clinical judgement.
Honest
If a medicine isn't right for you, we'll say so and explain why. We don't sell to anyone we shouldn't.
Local first
The pharmacy serves Hyde Park, Burley, Headingley and the University. Online orders run alongside, not instead of, walking in.
NHS standards
We hold to NHS Pharmaceutical Services contract standards and GPhC professional standards on every supply — NHS, private, or online.
Our team
The pharmacy is led by our superintendent pharmacist, Shoyab Umarji — a GPhC-registered Independent Prescribing Pharmacist (GPhC #2065619) with more than a decade of UK community-pharmacy experience.
Shoyab has owned and managed several pharmacies in West and South Yorkshire, including Global Pharm Ltd in Wakefield. Across those years he's seen the shift in UK community pharmacy from dispensing alone to today's clinical-pathway-led services — Pharmacy First, the New Medicine Service, blood-pressure checks, the NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service — and has invested in the CPPE training and Independent Prescribing qualification needed to deliver them safely.
At Hyde Park Pharmacy he's responsible for the clinical governance of every service we run: the SOPs, the staff training, the audits, the safety reporting, the response to every complaint or near-miss. As an Independent Prescriber he can review, prescribe and counsel within his clinical competence — particularly for the private services where one consultation needs to do the full job (weight management, certain travel medicine, certain men's-health treatments, vaccinations under PGD).
Shoyab is supported by a team of registered pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and trained dispensary staff. Every clinical decision on this website — every P-medicine sale, every NHS service, every private consultation — sits under his accountability.

How we're different from a faceless online pharmacy
There are good online pharmacies in the UK and there are some that operate at the edges of safe practice. We're trying to be the former, by keeping the parts of community pharmacy that work — a real pharmacist who'll talk to you, a real walk-in counter, a real registration — and adding the parts of the online experience that should work but often don't: a careful questionnaire instead of a tick-box, the pharmacist seeing the answers before payment is taken, and a clear paper trail back to the medicine's official SmPC for every safety question we ask.
