Accessibility statement
How accessible this website is
We've built the site with the following accessibility features:
- Clear visual hierarchy with proper semantic HTML headings (h1, h2, h3) so screen readers can navigate by structure;
- Sufficient colour contrast between text and background (we aim for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for body text);
- Text that scales smoothly when you zoom your browser up to 200 % without breaking the layout;
- Focus indicators visible for keyboard users on all interactive elements;
- Form labels associated with inputs, so screen readers announce what each field is for;
- Alt text on meaningful images; decorative images marked as such;
- Skip-to-content links and a consistent navigation pattern across pages;
- No reliance on colour alone to convey information (e.g. error states use both colour and text);
- No flashing or auto-playing content that could trigger seizures;
- Plain English in our compliance notices, with a "short version" callout at the top of each policy page.
Known limitations
We're actively working on the following:
- Some inline SVG infographics in older blog articles may have limited
aria-labelcoverage — we add equivalent text descriptions where the diagram conveys meaning. If you reach an infographic that's not clear via screen reader, please contact us and we'll provide an audio or text equivalent; - Embedded third-party content (e.g. payment pages hosted by Stripe, NHS App links) is governed by those organisations' accessibility statements — Stripe's accessibility statement is at stripe.com/en-gb/legal/accessibility;
- The map embed on our Contact page relies on a third-party map provider; if it's difficult to use, please call us on 0113 244 1551 and we'll guide you in by postcode.
Alternative formats
If you need information from this website in a different format (large print, easy read, audio, braille), please contact us and we'll do our best to provide it:
- Email pharmacy.fh186@nhs.net
- Phone 0113 244 1551
We aim to respond within 5 working days. Pharmacy services in person at our Leeds premises are accessible — see the Contact page for accessibility information about the physical pharmacy.
Reporting accessibility problems
If you find anything on this website that's hard to use or that you think doesn't meet accessibility standards, please tell us. Useful detail:
- The page URL where the problem is;
- What the problem is (e.g. "the buttons aren't reachable with a keyboard", "the contrast is too low to read");
- What device, browser and assistive technology you're using, if relevant.
Email pharmacy.fh186@nhs.net with "Accessibility" in the subject line, or phone us. We treat accessibility reports as a priority.
Enforcement
If you contact us about an accessibility issue and you're unhappy with how we respond, you can raise a complaint with the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at equalityadvisoryservice.com.
How we test this site
We test the site using:
- Keyboard-only navigation (Tab / Shift+Tab / Enter / Space / Escape);
- Screen-reader testing with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS / iOS;
- Browser zoom up to 200 % and increased browser font-size;
- Automated accessibility scanners (axe DevTools, Lighthouse) on every new page before it ships;
- Real-user feedback from pharmacy customers who use assistive technology.
We last reviewed this statement on 3 June 2026 and will review it again at least every 12 months, or whenever we significantly change the website.
