Hives (Urticaria) — your questions, answered
How are hives treated?
Antihistamines are the usual treatment for the itch and rash. Some, such as fexofenadine 180mg, are pharmacy medicines, so our pharmacist checks they suit you before they are sent.
When should I see a doctor?
See a GP if hives keep coming back or last more than six weeks. Call 999 if you have swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, or any difficulty breathing - that can be a serious allergic reaction.
Information only — always read the patient leaflet and ask our pharmacist if you're unsure. Prescription treatments are supplied only after a consultation and our pharmacist's approval.
