What is Nicorette Icy White 4mg Gum 105 Pieces?

Nicorette Icy White 4mg Gum is a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) chewing gum with a mint flavour. It relieves and helps prevent the cravings and withdrawal symptoms of nicotine dependence from smoking or vaping. It can be used to stop straight away or to cut down before stopping. The 4mg strength is for heavier users: people who smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day, or who vape often or use high-strength e-liquid.

How does it help?

When you chew the gum slowly and then rest it between your cheek and gum, nicotine is released and absorbed through the lining of your mouth. This replaces some of the nicotine you would have got from cigarettes or a vape, without the tar and carbon monoxide in tobacco smoke, so cravings and withdrawal symptoms such as irritability and restlessness are easier to manage. After about 30 minutes the piece is used up. Use a piece whenever you feel the urge to smoke or vape, up to 15 pieces a day, then cut down gradually. Switching to the 2mg gum can help as you reduce.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for children under 12. Speak to your doctor first if you are in hospital or have recently had a heart attack, stroke, worsening or unstable angina or a serious heart rhythm problem, or if your blood pressure is uncontrolled. Speak to our pharmacist before using it if you have diabetes (check your blood sugar more often while you quit), a stomach ulcer, gastritis or an inflamed oesophagus, moderate to severe liver disease or severe kidney disease, epilepsy, an overactive thyroid that is not controlled, or phaeochromocytoma. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, get advice from our pharmacist or your doctor before starting. Stopping smoking can raise the blood levels of some medicines, such as theophylline, clozapine and ropinirole, so tell us if you take any of these. Do not use more than 15 pieces a day. The 4mg gum can cause indigestion or heartburn at first, and the gum may stick to dentures. Nicotine can be very dangerous to children, so keep the gum out of their reach and dispose of used pieces carefully.
