What is Diprobase Cream and Ointment 500g?
Diprobase is a long-established emollient range for dry and eczema-prone skin. Diprobase Advanced Eczema Cream is a lighter, easily absorbed cream for all-over daily use; Diprobase Ointment is a thicker, greasier paraffin ointment that suits very dry, cracked areas and overnight use. Both are fragrance-free and contain no steroid.
How does it help?
Emollients work by replacing the oils that dry, eczema-prone skin struggles to hold on to. The paraffins form a protective layer that slows water loss from the skin, while the cream base helps draw moisture in, so skin becomes softer, less flaky and less prone to itching and irritation. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin, smoothing it in the direction of hair growth, as often as needed and up to four times a day.
Key benefits
- Moisturises and protects skin that is prone to becoming dry, flaky and irritated
- Fragrance-free and steroid-free, and suitable from babies to adults
- Two textures: a lighter cream for daytime and larger areas, a richer ointment for very dry patches
- 500g size suits regular, generous all-over use
Who should take care?
Always read the instructions before use. For external use only. Both products contain paraffin: do not smoke or go near naked flames, as fabric that has soaked up emollient burns more easily, and washing does not fully remove it. Avoid contact with the eyes and mouth, and take care in the bath or shower, as emollients make surfaces slippery. If you also use a prescribed steroid cream, leave around 30 minutes between the two. Stop and speak to our pharmacist if the skin becomes more irritated. See your GP or pharmacist if your eczema is weeping, crusted or not settling, as it may be infected or need prescription treatment.
