What is Cetraben Cream & Ointment 500g?

Cetraben is a family of emollients (medical moisturisers) for skin conditions that leave the skin dry, itchy and flaky, such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. The cream is light, absorbs quickly and suits daytime use over large areas; the ointment is thicker and greasier, which makes it better for very dry patches, hands and feet, or overnight. Both are fragrance-free and free of sodium lauryl sulfate, and this listing offers each in a 500g size for regular whole-body use.

How does it help?

The paraffins in Cetraben lie on the skin as a thin, breathable film that slows the loss of water from the skin's surface, so moisture stays in and everyday irritants stay out. Used two to four times a day, and always after washing, this keeps the skin supple and helps break the itch-scratch cycle that sets off flare-ups. Who should take care?

Always read the instructions before use. Cetraben contains paraffin: clothing, bedding and dressings that have soaked it up catch fire more easily, so keep away from fires, cigarettes and naked flames and wash fabrics regularly at a high temperature. Avoid contact with the eyes. It contains cetostearyl alcohol, which can cause a local skin reaction; stop and speak to our pharmacist if redness or a rash develops, and ask before applying to skin that is infected, bleeding or badly cracked.
