What is Eurax Itch Relief Cream 100g?

Eurax Cream is an anti-itch cream containing crotamiton. It is used for itching and skin irritation from things like sunburn, dry eczema, itchy dermatitis, hives and nettle rash, heat rash, chickenpox and insect bites and stings. It is also licensed for the treatment of scabies.

How does it help?

Crotamiton has an antipruritic action on the skin — it damps down the itch signals coming from the irritated area, which is why relief from one application can last for some hours. When it is used for scabies it is applied over the whole body below the neck, once daily for three to five days, so that it reaches the mites living in the skin.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For external use only. Do not use it on weeping, blistered or acutely inflamed skin, or if you are sensitive to crotamiton or any of the other ingredients. Keep it away from the eyes, the mouth and broken skin. It should only be used in pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or for genital itching under medical supervision, and it should not be applied to the nipple area if you are breastfeeding. Children under 3 should only use it on a doctor's advice and no more than once a day. It is a fire risk on skin and fabric — do not smoke or go near naked flames while it is on, and wash clothing and bedding regularly.
