What is Strepsils Original Lozenges 16?

Strepsils Original are antiseptic throat lozenges for the symptomatic relief of mouth and throat infections, for adults and children over 6.

How does it help?

Two antiseptics - amylmetacresol and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol - are released as the lozenge dissolves slowly in the mouth, soothing a sore throat. Dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 2 to 3 hours, up to 12 in 24 hours.

Who should take care?

Not suitable for children under 6. Do not exceed the stated dose, and use the lowest dose for the shortest time. The lozenges contain sucrose and glucose - not suitable with hereditary fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency. They contain a very low level of gluten (from wheat starch) - regarded as gluten-free and very unlikely to cause problems in coeliac disease - but do not take them if you have a wheat allergy. They also contain the colourings carmoisine (E122) and ponceau 4R (E124). Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
