What is Strefen 8.75mg Sore Throat Lozenges 16?

Strefen 8.75mg Lozenges are a pharmacy medicine for the short-term relief of a sore throat in adults and children over 12. Each lozenge contains flurbiprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID), in a sugar-free orange flavour or a eucalyptus and manuka honey flavour.

How does it help?

Flurbiprofen reduces the inflammation that makes a sore throat painful, working where the lozenge dissolves. Suck one lozenge slowly every 3 to 6 hours as needed, keeping it moving around the mouth, with no more than 5 lozenges in 24 hours. Use it for no more than 3 days.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for children under 12. Do not use it if you have had an allergic reaction (including asthma, a runny nose, swelling or hives) to aspirin or another anti-inflammatory painkiller; if you have or have had a stomach ulcer or bleeding; if you have severe heart, kidney or liver failure; or in the last three months of pregnancy. Do not take it with other anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen. Speak to our pharmacist first if you have asthma, are older, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. See a doctor if the sore throat is severe, comes with a high temperature, or has not improved after 3 days.
