Rennie Liquid Heartburn Relief is the liquid form of the familiar Rennie antacid. It is an oral suspension containing calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, for the burning feeling of heartburn and the discomfort of acid indigestion. It suits people who would rather take a measured dose of liquid than chew a tablet.

How does it help?

The two carbonates react with the excess acid sitting in the stomach and neutralise it, which is what settles the burning and the sour discomfort. Because it is already a liquid, it spreads across the stomach contents as soon as you swallow it rather than having to break down first. It works in the stomach rather than being absorbed into the body.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. This medicine is for adults and children aged 12 and over. Do not take it if you have a kidney problem, have been told your blood calcium is high, or have had calcium-containing kidney stones. Tell us about any other medicines you take, as antacids can change how some are absorbed and a gap of around two hours is often advised. Stick to the dose in the leaflet, and shake the bottle as directed. If your symptoms last more than two weeks, keep returning, or you have difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss or are bringing up blood, see your doctor.
