What is Rennie Deflatine Chewable Tablets 36?
Rennie Deflatine is a chewable antacid tablet for the discomfort that comes with heartburn, acid indigestion and trapped wind. It contains the two antacids found in standard Rennie tablets, calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, with simeticone added for the bloating and wind side of things.
How does it help?
The two carbonates work in the stomach itself. They react with excess stomach acid and neutralise it, which settles the burning feeling behind the breastbone and the sour discomfort of indigestion. Simeticone works differently - it is not absorbed into the body, but changes the surface tension of the small gas bubbles trapped in the gut so they join into larger bubbles that are easier to pass, easing the bloated, full feeling.

Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. This medicine is for adults and children aged 12 and over. Do not take it if you have a kidney problem, have been told your blood calcium is high, or have had calcium-containing kidney stones, and tell us about any other medicines you take, as antacids can affect how some are absorbed - leaving a gap of about two hours between them is often advised. Do not take more than the leaflet allows in a day. If your symptoms last longer than two weeks, keep coming back, or you have difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss or are bringing up blood, see your doctor.
