What is Nurofen Joint & Muscular Pain Relief 200mg Medicated Plasters 4?

A medicated plaster you stick over a painful area of muscle or joint. Each plaster holds 200mg of ibuprofen, an anti-inflammatory painkiller, and is worn on clean, unbroken skin for the wear time given in the leaflet.

How does it help?

When a muscle or joint is strained, the tissue releases prostaglandins - chemicals that cause swelling and make nerve endings more sensitive to pain. Ibuprofen reduces the production of those chemicals. Delivered through a plaster, it is released steadily into the tissue directly beneath, so the effect is concentrated where you have stuck it rather than spread through the whole body.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Apply only to clean, unbroken, healthy skin - never over cuts, rashes, eczema or infected skin, and never near the eyes or mouth. Do not use it if aspirin or an anti-inflammatory painkiller has ever brought on asthma, wheezing, a rash or swelling, and do not use other ibuprofen products at the same time. Keep the treated area out of strong sunlight and off sunbeds. Tell us if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you have stomach, heart, kidney or liver problems, and stop and get advice if the skin under the plaster becomes red or irritated.
