What is Movelat Gel 125g?

Movelat Gel is the gel version of Movelat, with the same two active ingredients as the cream in a non-greasy base that dries quickly on the skin. It is licensed for the symptomatic relief of muscular pain and stiffness, sprains and strains, and pain from rheumatic and non-serious arthritic conditions. As a pharmacy medicine, our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is dispensed.

How does it help?

Salicylic acid and mucopolysaccharide polysulfate (MPS) are absorbed through the skin and act locally on the painful area rather than throughout the body. Salicylic acid has an anti-inflammatory action that helps ease pain and swelling; MPS is a heparin-like substance that also helps calm inflammation in the tissue. A 5 to 15cm strip is applied to the affected area up to four times a day. The gel base feels cool on the skin and dries quickly, which many people find convenient after sport or during the day.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For external use only and not for children under 12. Do not use if you are allergic to aspirin, salicylates or anti-inflammatory painkillers (NSAIDs). Keep away from the eyes and do not apply to large areas of skin, broken or sensitive skin, infected skin, eczema or mucous membranes. Do not use in the first three months or the final weeks of pregnancy, and do not apply to the breast area while breastfeeding. Clothing or bedding that has soaked up the gel catches fire more easily, so do not smoke or go near naked flames while using it. Stop and speak to our pharmacist if the skin becomes very irritated.
