What is Doublebase Flare Relief Emollient 500g?

Doublebase Flare Relief is an emollient gel for dry, itchy and inflamed skin conditions, including mild to moderate dermatitis, the various forms of eczema and psoriasis. It is built on the familiar Doublebase moisturising gel, with nicotinamide added for an extra calming action that is useful when the skin flares.

How does it help?

Its main action is as an emollient: the gel smooths over the skin, hydrating it and forming a protective layer that slows moisture loss, so the skin feels softer and is less prone to itching and cracking. The added nicotinamide provides a supplementary anti-inflammatory effect for red, irritated patches. Apply it three times a day or as often as needed, smoothing it gently in the direction of hair growth without rubbing hard. It can be used just during flares or continuously.

Who should take care?

Always read the instructions before use. Do not use if you are allergic to nicotinamide or any of the other ingredients. Do not smoke or go near naked flames: fabric that has been in contact with this product burns more easily, and washing does not fully remove it. Keep the gel away from the eyes, nostrils, lips and mouth; rinse with plenty of water if it gets in the eyes. If you use a prescribed steroid cream, apply that first and wait around 30 minutes (up to 2 hours for certain calcineurin inhibitors) before applying Doublebase Flare Relief. Temporary tingling or stinging can occur, especially on broken skin; stop if it is troublesome or persists. Use with caution in the first three months of pregnancy, and if breastfeeding apply sparingly to the nipples after feeds and wipe off before feeding. If there is no improvement within 2 to 4 weeks, ask our pharmacist or your GP for advice.
