What is Deep Heat Pain Relief Heat Patches 4?

Deep Heat Pain Relief Heat Patches are thin, odourless self-adhesive patches that warm up on contact with the air. They contain no medicine: the heat comes from a sealed mix of iron powder, charcoal, vermiculite and salt that reacts with oxygen once the packet is opened. They are used for back pain, muscular aches, spasms and stiffness.

How does it help?

Once you tear open the packet the iron powder begins to oxidise, releasing a gentle, even heat that starts within about a minute and carries on for hours. Warmth on the skin relaxes tight muscles, increases blood flow to the area and eases the sensation of pain. Stick the patch onto clean, dry skin over the sore area, or onto your clothing if your skin is sensitive, and peel it off when you have finished.

Who should take care?

Always read the instructions before use. Open the packet only when you are ready to use the patch, as it activates in air. Do not use on the face, on broken skin, or over bruises or swellings, and do not use it together with creams or other skin medicines or with another heat source such as a hot-water bottle. Do not wear it while asleep or under prolonged pressure, and do not use it for more than 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Not for infants, children or anyone who cannot remove the patch by themselves; take extra care if you have sensitive or fragile skin, and remove it at once if it feels too hot. Do not use a patch that is damaged or torn.
