What is Covonia Night Time Formula 150ml?
Covonia Night Time Formula is a pharmacy medicine for night-time relief of an unproductive (dry) cough and the congestion that comes with a cold. It combines dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant, with diphenhydramine, a sedating antihistamine.
How does it help?
Dextromethorphan quietens the cough reflex, and diphenhydramine helps with cold congestion and causes drowsiness, which is why it is taken at bedtime. Adults and children over 12 take 15ml (three 5ml spoonfuls) at bedtime, repeated after 6 hours if needed.

Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for children under 12. It causes drowsiness: do not drive or operate machinery if affected, and avoid alcohol and other sedating medicines. Do not take it with an MAOI (or within 2 weeks of stopping one) or with an SSRI antidepressant, if you have liver problems or porphyria, or for a cough linked to asthma or one that brings up phlegm. Speak to our pharmacist first if you have glaucoma, difficulty passing urine, an enlarged prostate, epilepsy or a serious heart condition. Use in pregnancy only if clearly needed, and avoid while breastfeeding. Never take more than the label says. If symptoms persist, see your doctor.
