What is Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser?

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a mild cosmetic facial and body cleanser suitable for dry and sensitive skin. It cleanses the skin without harsh soaps.

Who should take care?

Follow the directions on the pack and avoid contact with the eyes; rinse with water if the product gets into your eyes. Stop use if irritation occurs. Don't use if you're allergic to any of the ingredients. Speak to our pharmacist if you're unsure which product suits your skin.

Common questions

Is Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser suitable for sensitive or eczema-prone skin?

It’s made for normal to dry, sensitive skin — soap-free, fragrance-free and dermatologist tested, with glycerin, niacinamide and panthenol instead of a foaming detergent. For diagnosed eczema the NHS advises washing with an emollient soap substitute, so ask our pharmacist first and see our eczema & dermatitis page. If skin is weeping, crusting or spreading, see your GP.

Can you use Cetaphil without water?

Yes — Galderma made it to be used with or without water, which helps if washing irritates your skin or you can’t get to a sink. It doesn’t foam either way, because there is no soap in it. The pack explains both methods, and our pharmacist can talk through which one suits your skin.

Is it a face wash or a body wash, and which sizes do you stock?

Both — Galderma lists it for face and body on normal to dry, sensitive skin, so one bottle can cover everything. We stock two sizes, a 236 ml bottle and a larger 473 ml bottle; the bigger one suits anyone using it head to toe or getting through it quickly.

Does it moisturise, or do I still need a cream afterwards?

It cleanses without stripping the skin’s natural moisture barrier, but it isn’t a moisturiser. Galderma’s own advice is to follow it straight away with a moisturiser to lock hydration in, which matters most on dry or sensitive skin.
