What is CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser?

CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser is a cosmetic gel face wash for skin that is oily or prone to spots and blackheads. It is fragrance free and used twice a day in place of an ordinary cleanser. It is a cleansing product, not an acne medicine, and is meant to be part of a daily routine rather than a treatment for a single spot.

How does it help?

Salicylic acid dissolves in oil, so it can get into the pores and loosen the dead skin cells and sebum that block them. Gluconolactone, a gentle exfoliating acid, helps to smooth the skin's surface. Niacinamide helps calm the skin and reduce the look of redness, and the three ceramides are the same kind of lipids found naturally in the skin barrier, so the wash cleans without leaving the skin tight or dry. Massage a small amount over damp skin and rinse well.

Who should take care?

Always read the instructions before use. For external use on the face; avoid the eyes and rinse thoroughly if it gets in. Exfoliating acids can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so use a daily SPF. If your skin is sensitive, start with once a day and build up, and stop if you get persistent stinging, redness or peeling. If your spots are painful, widespread or leaving marks, speak to our pharmacist or your GP rather than relying on a cleanser.
