Bronchostop Cough Syrup is a traditional herbal medicine made with thyme and marshmallow root, used to relieve chesty, dry, tickly and irritating coughs and catarrh in adults and children over 12, exclusively based on long-standing use.
What is Bronchostop Cough Syrup 240ml?
Bronchostop Cough Syrup is a thick, raspberry-flavoured herbal syrup for coughs. It is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the relief of coughs, such as chesty coughs and dry, tickly, irritating coughs and catarrh, exclusively based on long-standing use. Each 15ml dose contains extracts of thyme herb and marshmallow root, and it comes with a measuring cup. It can be taken neat or stirred into water or warm tea.
How does it help?
Thyme has been used for generations for coughs: traditionally it is taken to help loosen thick mucus in a chesty cough and calm the urge to cough. Marshmallow root is rich in a slippery substance called mucilage, which coats the irritated lining of the throat so that a dry, tickly cough is less easily triggered. These uses rest on traditional experience rather than clinical trials, which is what a traditional herbal registration means. A 15ml dose is taken every 4 hours, four times a day, up to a maximum of six doses (90ml) in a day.

- 240ml bottle gives 16 full doses, which covers about four days at the standard four doses a day
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for children under 12. Do not take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are allergic to thyme, marshmallow root, other plants of the mint (Lamiaceae) family such as basil, rosemary or sage, or to any other ingredient, including the preservatives methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoate. Speak to our pharmacist first if you have asthma or are prone to allergic reactions, as the syrup can make asthma symptoms worse. See a doctor if you are short of breath, have a high temperature, or your phlegm is yellow-green or brown, and if you feel no better or feel worse after 7 days. Leave half an hour to an hour between this syrup and other medicines, as it may delay their absorption. It is sweetened with xylitol and raspberry juice concentrate and contains 66mg of fructose per dose; check with your doctor first if you have an intolerance to some sugars or hereditary fructose intolerance. Do not exceed six doses (90ml) in 24 hours.
