What is Beechams All in One Cold and Flu Tablets 16?
Beechams All in One Cold and Flu Tablets are a three-in-one cold remedy in tablet form. Each tablet contains paracetamol for aches, headache and fever, phenylephrine to ease a blocked nose, and guaifenesin to loosen a chesty cough. They are licensed for the short-term relief of colds, chills and flu, including chesty coughs.
How does it help?
Paracetamol lowers a raised temperature and dulls the aches and headache that come with a cold or flu. Phenylephrine narrows the swollen blood vessels in the lining of the nose, which reduces the swelling that makes it feel blocked. Guaifenesin thins the mucus in the chest so that a chesty cough brings it up more easily. The usual dose is two tablets every four hours as needed, up to eight tablets in 24 hours.
Key benefits
- Covers the main cold and flu symptoms with one product
- Includes an expectorant for a chesty, mucus-filled cough
- Suitable from 12 years, so older children can take it too
- Can be repeated every four hours through the day, up to eight tablets in 24 hours
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing product, or with other cold, flu or decongestant medicines. Do not use if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, liver problems or severe kidney problems, or if you take a beta-blocker, a tricyclic antidepressant or have taken an MAOI antidepressant in the last two weeks. Ask our pharmacist before use if you have a persistent or long-standing cough, if you take digoxin or other heart medicines, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Not for children under 12 unless a doctor advises it. If symptoms persist, see your GP.
