What is Bonjela Adult Gel 15g?

Bonjela Adult is the original Bonjela gel for use inside the mouth. It is licensed to relieve the pain, discomfort and inflammation of common mouth ulcers, cold sores, and sore spots caused by dentures or by braces and other orthodontic appliances. It also helps fight minor mouth infection and helps these sore spots heal.

How does it help?

Choline salicylate is a pain reliever from the same family as aspirin. It eases pain and inflammation where the gel is applied. Cetalkonium chloride is an antiseptic that helps fight minor infection. With a clean finger, massage about half an inch of gel onto the sore area, no more than once every 3 hours. If you wear dentures, apply the gel and wait at least 30 minutes before putting them back in, and do not put the gel on the dentures themselves.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for anyone under 16: salicylates have a possible link with Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness, in children and teenagers. Do not use it if you are allergic to salicylates, aspirin or other anti-inflammatory painkillers or to any ingredient, or if you have an active stomach ulcer. Do not use it with aspirin or other salicylate medicines unless a doctor has told you to. If you are pregnant, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use, and tell us if you take a blood thinner such as warfarin or a medicine for gout. It may sting briefly on broken skin. It contains alcohol and fragrance ingredients (d-limonene, anisyl alcohol and linalool) that may cause allergic reactions. Do not use more than the stated dose, and see your doctor or dentist if symptoms last more than 7 days.
