Benylin Day and Night Tablets relieve the symptoms of colds and flu, with day tablets containing paracetamol and the decongestant pseudoephedrine and a night tablet containing paracetamol and the sedating antihistamine diphenhydramine, for adults and children aged 12 and over.
What is Benylin Day & Night Tablets 16?
Benylin Day and Night Tablets are a combination pack for the relief of cold and flu symptoms such as aches and pains, headache, a raised temperature and a blocked nose. The white day tablets contain paracetamol with pseudoephedrine, a decongestant. The blue night tablet contains paracetamol with diphenhydramine, an antihistamine that causes drowsiness, to help you rest. It is a pharmacy medicine, so our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is supplied.
How does it help?
Paracetamol relieves pain and brings down a temperature. Pseudoephedrine narrows the swollen blood vessels in the lining of the nose, which helps to clear a blocked nose. Diphenhydramine is a sedating antihistamine, so the night tablet can make you drowsy. Take one white tablet every 4 to 6 hours during the day, with no more than three white tablets a day, and one blue tablet at night.
Key benefits
- Separate day and night tablets in one pack
- Paracetamol in every tablet for aches, pains and a raised temperature
- A decongestant in the day tablets to help clear a blocked nose
- A sedating antihistamine in the night tablet to help you rest
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for children under 12. Do not take it with any other medicine containing paracetamol, another decongestant, or any other product containing diphenhydramine. Do not take it if you have high blood pressure or another heart or circulation condition, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, phaeochromocytoma, closed-angle glaucoma or severe kidney disease, or if you take a beta-blocker or have taken an MAOI antidepressant in the last 14 days. Speak to a doctor first if you have asthma, a long-term cough, difficulty passing urine or an enlarged prostate, or thyroid disease treated with thyroid hormones. The night tablet causes drowsiness: do not drive or operate machinery if affected, and avoid alcohol. Do not take more than the stated dose. Tell our pharmacist if you have liver or kidney problems, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
