Nurofen Day and Night Cold and Flu tablets combine ibuprofen with the decongestant phenylephrine for the short-term relief of cold and flu symptoms with congestion, including aches, fever, sore throat and a blocked nose and sinuses.
What is Nurofen Day and Night Cold and Flu Tablets 16?
A tablet for cold and flu symptoms when you are also congested. Each tablet contains ibuprofen, an anti-inflammatory painkiller, and phenylephrine, a decongestant. Every tablet in the pack is the same - there is no separate night-time tablet and no sedative - so the same dose is used during the day and at night.
How does it help?
Ibuprofen reduces the body's production of prostaglandins, the chemicals behind pain, inflammation and fever, so it eases aches, headache and sore throat and brings a temperature down. Phenylephrine narrows the swollen blood vessels in the lining of the nose and sinuses, reducing the swelling so you can breathe more easily.
Key benefits
- Eases aches and pains, headache, sore throat and fever
- Helps clear a blocked nose and blocked sinuses
- Two tablets up to three times a day, at least 4 hours apart
- Suitable from age 12
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For short-term use only: take no more than 6 tablets in 24 hours, and see a doctor if you need it for more than 10 days or your symptoms get worse. Do not take it if you have had a reaction to ibuprofen, aspirin or another anti-inflammatory painkiller, have a stomach ulcer or a history of stomach bleeding, have high blood pressure, heart disease, severe heart failure, kidney or liver failure, an overactive thyroid, an enlarged prostate or a phaeochromocytoma, are in the last three months of pregnancy, or have taken an MAOI antidepressant in the last two weeks. Do not take it with other anti-inflammatory painkillers or other decongestants. Speak to us first if you have asthma, diabetes, closed-angle glaucoma, Raynaud's phenomenon, high cholesterol, lupus, or kidney, liver or bowel problems, if you smoke, or if you are pregnant or trying to conceive. The tablets contain the colouring sunset yellow (E110), which can cause allergic reactions. Our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is supplied.
