Nurofen Cold and Flu tablets combine ibuprofen with the decongestant pseudoephedrine for the short-term relief of cold and flu symptoms with congestion, including aches, fever, sore throat and a blocked nose and sinuses.
What is Nurofen Cold and Flu Tablets 24?
A tablet for the symptoms of a cold or flu when you are also blocked up. Each tablet contains ibuprofen, an anti-inflammatory painkiller, and pseudoephedrine, a decongestant for a stuffy nose and blocked sinuses.
How does it help?
Ibuprofen reduces the body's production of prostaglandins, the chemicals behind pain, inflammation and fever, so it eases aches, headache and sore throat and brings a temperature down. Pseudoephedrine narrows the swollen blood vessels in the lining of the nose and sinuses, which reduces the swelling and helps you breathe more freely.
Key benefits
- Eases aches and pains, headache, sore throat and fever
- Helps clear a blocked nose and blocked sinuses
- 1 or 2 tablets up to three times a day, at least 4 hours apart
- Suitable from age 12
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For short-term use only: take no more than 6 tablets in 24 hours, and see a doctor if you need it for more than 10 days or your symptoms get worse. Do not take it if you have had a reaction to ibuprofen, aspirin or another anti-inflammatory painkiller, have a stomach ulcer or a history of stomach bleeding, have severe heart, kidney or liver disease, severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure or a phaeochromocytoma, are in the last three months of pregnancy, or have taken an MAOI antidepressant in the last 14 days. Do not take it with other anti-inflammatory painkillers or other decongestants. Speak to us first if you have asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, lupus, or heart, kidney, liver or bowel problems, if you smoke, or if you are pregnant or trying to conceive. Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you develop a sudden severe headache, confusion, fits, sudden tummy pain or bleeding from the back passage, or changes in your vision. UK rules limit how much pseudoephedrine can be supplied at one time. Our pharmacist checks every order and confirms it is right for you before it is supplied.
