Calpol Saline Nasal Spray is a preservative-free isotonic saline spray, suitable from birth, that rinses and moistens a blocked, dry or irritated nose during colds and flu, sinusitis or hay fever.
What is Calpol Saline Nasal Spray 15ml?
A gentle salt-water nasal spray from Calpol. It is a preservative-free isotonic saline solution, meaning its salt level is close to the body's own fluids. The instructions describe it for blocked, dry or irritated noses caused by colds and flu, sinusitis, allergies including hay fever, and after nasal surgery. It contains no medicine.
How does it help?
The spray rinses the inside of the nose and restores moisture. It thins mucus so it can be cleared away more easily, and regular use helps wash out irritants such as pollen. For babies up to 2 years: lay your baby down with their head turned to one side and give one spray into each nostril as often as needed, pumping once after each nostril to refill the pump. For children over 2 and adults: one to two sprays into each nostril as often as needed, breathing in through the nostril being sprayed.
Key benefits
- Drug-free and preservative-free, so it can be used as often as needed
- Suitable from birth and in pregnancy, according to the instructions
- Clearing mucus can help a baby with a blocked nose feed and settle more comfortably
- Also helps rinse away dried blood and crusts after nasal surgery
Who should take care?
Always read the instructions before use. For use in the nose only. Do not use it if you are allergic to sodium chloride or any other ingredient. One bottle should be used by one person only, to avoid spreading infection. Spray into the air before first use, and again if it has not been used for a week, to check the pump works. Write the opening date on the bottle and throw it away 12 weeks after first opening; store below 25C. If symptoms last more than 14 days, get worse, or new symptoms appear, stop using it and speak to a healthcare professional. If a baby is struggling to breathe or feed, get medical advice straight away.
