What is Benylin Chesty Coughs Original?
Benylin Chesty Coughs Original is a pharmacy medicine for the relief of cough and associated congestion, for adults and children aged 12 and over.
How does it help?
Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that helps calm the cough, and levomenthol gives a soothing, decongesting feel. Adults and children aged 12 and over: take one 10ml dose four times a day. Do not take more than 40ml in 24 hours.

Who should take care?
Not for children under 12, and never to make a child sleepy. May cause drowsiness - if affected, do not drive or use machinery, and avoid alcohol. Do not take with any other medicine containing diphenhydramine (including sleep aids and creams used on large areas), or within 14 days of an MAOI antidepressant. Contains sugars (glucose and sucrose), ethanol, Ponceau 4R and benzyl alcohol - see the leaflet. Ask a doctor first if you have a long-lasting cough, asthma, COPD, glaucoma or prostate problems. See a GP if the cough lasts more than 3 weeks or you cough up blood.
