Benylin Dry Coughs is a pharmacy medicine for the relief of a dry, unproductive cough - one that does not bring up phlegm - for adults and children aged 12 and over.
How does it help?
Dextromethorphan acts on the cough centre in the brain to reduce the urge to cough. Adults and children aged 12 and over: take 10ml four times a day. Do not take more than 40ml in 24 hours. Use for the shortest time needed.

Who should take care?
Not for children under 12. Long use can lead to dependence (addiction), even at normal doses. Do not take with an MAOI (or within 14 days), with SSRI antidepressants, or with any other cough and cold medicine; avoid alcohol. Not for people with breathing failure, asthma, a long-lasting cough or a cough with lots of phlegm unless a doctor advises. Contains sugars (glucose, sucrose), sorbitol and ethanol. See a GP if the cough lasts more than 3 weeks or you cough up blood.
