What is Actifed Multi-Action Dry Coughs 100ml?

Actifed Multi-Action Dry Coughs is a pharmacy medicine for a dry, tickly cough together with a runny or blocked nose and catarrh, for adults and children aged 12 and over.

How does it help?

Dextromethorphan calms the cough reflex, pseudoephedrine unblocks the nose and clears catarrh, and triprolidine is an antihistamine that dries a runny nose. Adults and children 12 and over: 10ml every 4 to 6 hours, up to four times in 24 hours.

Who should take care?

May cause drowsiness - do not drive or use machinery if affected, avoid alcohol, and never use it to make a child sleepy. Not for under 12s, or anyone with heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, closed-angle glaucoma, phaeochromocytoma, severe kidney disease or breathing failure, or taking an MAOI (or within 2 weeks), an SSRI antidepressant, a beta-blocker or another decongestant. Not in pregnancy or breastfeeding (contains alcohol). Long use can lead to dependence. Stop and get urgent help for a sudden severe headache, confusion, fits or vision problems, sudden tummy pain or rectal bleeding, or a widespread rash with fever. UK law allows only one pseudoephedrine product per order.
