What is Veganin Triple Action Tablets 30?

A pharmacy-counter painkiller with three ingredients in each caplet: paracetamol, a small amount of codeine, and caffeine. It is for short-term relief of moderate pain such as headache, backache, period pain, toothache or rheumatic pain, where paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin on their own have not been enough.

How does it help?

Paracetamol turns down the pain signals reaching the brain. Codeine is a weak opioid that works on the same pathways in a different way, so together they cover pain that paracetamol alone has not. Caffeine is included because it helps paracetamol take effect a little faster and more strongly.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. This medicine contains codeine, which can become addictive if taken for longer than 3 days - if you still need a painkiller after 3 days, speak to us or see your GP rather than carrying on. Never take it with another medicine containing paracetamol or codeine, including cold and flu remedies, and never exceed the stated dose: too much paracetamol causes serious liver damage even when you feel perfectly well. Not for children under 12, and not while breastfeeding. Tell us if you have breathing problems, kidney or liver problems, or take medicines for depression.
