What is Thealoz Duo Eye Drops 10ml?

Thealoz Duo is a lubricating eye drop for dry eye. It is a medical device rather than a medicine, so it has no marketing authorisation and comes with an instructions-for-use leaflet instead of a patient information leaflet. The formula is preservative-free and comes in a 10 ml multidose bottle, so there are no single-use vials to open each time.

How does it help?

Dry eye happens when the thin film of tears covering the front of the eye thins out or evaporates too quickly, which is what produces that gritty, tired, stinging feeling by the end of the day. Sodium hyaluronate holds water against the surface of the eye so the drop stays where you put it instead of washing straight away, while trehalose is a natural sugar that helps the surface cells cope while they are exposed. Between them they top up and steady the tear film.

Who should take care?
