What is Strepsils Extra Strength Blackcurrant Lozenges?

Medicated blackcurrant-flavoured lozenges for the relief of sore throat and the pain that comes with it.

How does it help?

Each lozenge contains hexylresorcinol 2.4mg. As the lozenge dissolves slowly in the mouth it works as a local anaesthetic, numbing the surface of the throat so swallowing is less painful, and as an antiseptic against bacteria in the mouth and throat.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not to be given to children under 6 years. Do not take more than 12 lozenges in 24 hours. Do not use if you have ever had an allergic reaction to hexylresorcinol or to any other ingredient. The lozenges contain sugars and sulphites, and are not suitable if you have hereditary fructose intolerance or glucose-galactose malabsorption. See your doctor if your sore throat lasts more than three days, or sooner if you have a high temperature, a rash, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
