What is Scholl Fungal Nail Treatment 3.8ml?

Scholl Fungal Nail Treatment is a liquid you apply to a nail affected by a fungal infection. It is a CE-marked medical device rather than a medicine, so it has no marketing authorisation and works physically rather than pharmacologically.

How does it help?

A fungal nail infection lives in and under the hard keratin of the nail, where it is hard to reach. After the surface of the affected nail is smoothed, the solution is brushed over it and dries to alter the conditions on and just under the nail so that the fungus is no longer able to thrive. The damaged nail is not repaired - healthy nail has to grow through from the base, which is why treatment is a course rather than a one-off.

Who should take care?

Always read the instructions before use. Nails grow slowly, so improvement takes months rather than days and you should keep going for the full course described in the instructions. Do not use it on broken, weeping or infected skin around the nail, and keep it away from the eyes. Speak to us before starting if you have diabetes, poor circulation, a nail that is painful, loose or badly deformed, or if the infection covers most of the nail or several nails - those need looking at rather than self-treating.
