Weekly medicated lacquer for mild fungal nail infection affecting up to 2 nails.

What is Curanail 5% Nail Lacquer (Amorolfine)?

Curanail is a medicated nail lacquer for treating mild fungal nail infection affecting up to two nails in adults. It is painted onto the affected nail once a week.

How does it help?

Its active ingredient, amorolfine, is an antifungal that penetrates the nail plate and works to stop the growth of the fungus responsible for the infection, helping healthy nail to grow back over time.

Key benefits

  • Treats mild fungal nail infection
  • Once-weekly application
  • Painted directly onto the nail
  • For up to two affected nails
  • Contains antifungal amorolfine 5%

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Treatment can take several months as the nail grows out. Not for children. Don't use if you're allergic to any of the ingredients. Do not use it if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding — the licence advises against use in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Speak to our pharmacist if you are taking other medicines, or have any ongoing health conditions such as diabetes or a weakened immune system. Our pharmacist checks every order before it's supplied.

Common questions

What is the difference between Curanail and generic amorolfine lacquer?
Only the brand name. Curanail is Galderma’s version and contains amorolfine 5% w/v — the same active ingredient at the same strength as our generic amorolfine nail lacquer. Both carry the same UK licence: mild fungal infection of up to two nails in adults aged 18 and over, and both come with files and cleansing swabs.
What are the files and swabs in the pack for?
The nail has to be prepared before the lacquer goes on. The files are for filing down the infected part of the nail and the cleansing swabs are for wiping the nail surface clean first. The leaflet in the pack takes you through it step by step, and our pharmacist is happy to talk it through on 0113 244 1551.
Can I use Curanail if I have diabetes?
Not without being seen first. The leaflet lists diabetes under ‘do not use’, alongside poor circulation in the hands or feet and a weakened immune system. The NHS advises the same: see a GP rather than self-treating a fungal nail if you’re diabetic, because foot problems can be more serious.
How do I know my nail is mild enough to treat at home?
Curanail is licensed only for mild infection of up to two nails in adults. The leaflet says not to use it if the nail is moderately or severely damaged, if there’s pain or swelling around it, or if a dark stripe runs down the nail. If any of that sounds like yours, speak to us or your GP — see nail infection.
