What is Psoriderm Cream 225ml?

Psoriderm Cream is a coal tar cream used on areas of dry, thickened, scaly skin, particularly chronic plaque psoriasis. It is a pharmacy medicine, so it is supplied after a short conversation with our pharmacist.

How does it help?

Distilled coal tar acts on the skin to slow the over-rapid turnover of skin cells that produces the raised, scaly plaques of psoriasis, and it helps to soften and lift the scale. As the scale reduces, itching usually settles too. It is applied thinly to the affected areas as directed.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not use if you have ever reacted to coal tar, on broken, weeping, infected or acutely inflamed skin, or on pustular psoriasis. Keep it away from the eyes, the inside of the nose and mouth, and the genital and anal areas. Coal tar can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, sunbeds and UV treatment, and it may stain skin, hair, clothing and bedding. Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are using any other treatment on the same skin. See your GP if your psoriasis spreads, becomes infected, or does not settle. Our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is dispensed.
