What is Prochlorperazine 3mg Buccal Tablets 8?

A generic version of Buccastem M: the same medicine, prochlorperazine maleate 3 mg, in a buccal tablet. It is licensed for the nausea and vomiting that come with a migraine attack, in adults aged 18 and over whose migraine has previously been diagnosed by a doctor.

How does it help?

Prochlorperazine is an anti-sickness medicine. The tablet is placed high up between the top gum and the upper lip and left to dissolve, so it can work even when you cannot keep a tablet down. Do not chew or swallow it. The usual dose is one or two tablets twice a day, for no more than two days.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For adults 18 and over whose migraine has previously been diagnosed by a doctor; use for no more than two days. Do not use if you are pregnant, are allergic to any ingredient, or have liver problems, a blood disorder, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, an enlarged prostate or narrow-angle glaucoma. Speak to our pharmacist first if you have a heart condition, risk factors for stroke, myasthenia gravis, or take other medicines. It can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.
