What is Phillips' Milk of Magnesia Liquid 200ml?
Phillips' Milk of Magnesia is a general sale medicine for indigestion, excess acid and wind, heartburn and stomach discomfort, which can also be used as a laxative to relieve constipation.
How does it help?
Magnesium hydroxide neutralises stomach acid; at a larger dose it draws water into the bowel to soften stools. Shake well; it can be taken with milk or water, and drink plenty of fluids. Indigestion - adults: 5-10ml, repeated as needed up to 60ml in 24 hours; children 3-12: 5ml, up to 30ml in 24 hours; for no more than 14 days. Laxative - adults: 30-45ml at bedtime, reducing nightly as constipation eases; children 3-12: 5-10ml at bedtime; for no more than 3 days.

Who should take care?
Always read the leaflet. Do not take it if you are allergic to any ingredient. Not for children under 3 unless a doctor advises. Check with your doctor or pharmacist first if you have kidney problems, take other medicines (antacids can stop some medicines being absorbed - keep doses apart), or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not take more than the recommended dose; it can cause diarrhoea. See your GP if symptoms continue, if you need a laxative every day, or if you have persistent stomach pain.
