What is Panadol ActiFast Tablets?

Panadol ActiFast is a paracetamol tablet for everyday pain and fever. It is the ordinary 500mg paracetamol dose, made up with sodium bicarbonate in the tablet so it breaks down readily in the stomach.

How does it help?

Paracetamol acts in the brain and spinal cord to reduce the pain signals you register, and on the part of the brain that controls body temperature, which is how it brings a fever down. The sodium bicarbonate in the ActiFast tablet helps it disperse and be absorbed once it reaches the stomach.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not take it alongside any other medicine containing paracetamol, including cold and flu remedies, and never take more than the stated dose - a paracetamol overdose can cause serious liver damage even when you feel perfectly well at the time. These tablets are high in sodium (352mg per adult dose), so tell us if you are on a low-salt diet or have heart or kidney problems. Speak to us first if you have liver or kidney disease, drink alcohol most days, or weigh under 50kg. If your pain lasts more than three days, or your headaches become frequent, see your doctor.
