What is Oilatum Junior Bath Additive?

Oilatum Junior Bath Additive is a licensed emollient for contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), the itchy dry skin that can come with age, ichthyosis and related dry skin conditions. It is a bath oil, so it is always used with water.

How does it help?

Added to bath water, or applied to wet skin, the light liquid paraffin leaves a fine oily layer on the skin that slows down water loss, helping dry skin stay softer and less itchy. For adults, add 1 to 3 capfuls to an 8 inch bath and soak for 10 to 20 minutes. For infants, add half to 2 capfuls to a basin of water and sponge it gently over the whole body. Pat dry afterwards.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. It makes the bath slippery, so take care getting in and out. Fabric that has been in contact with it - clothing, bedding, towels, dressings - burns more easily and is a fire hazard: do not smoke or go near naked flames, and wash fabrics regularly. Do not use it if you are sensitive to light liquid paraffin or any ingredient; if a rash or irritation develops, stop and speak to our pharmacist or your doctor. Skin that is weeping, crusted or looks infected needs to be seen.
