What is Nurofen Pain Relief Max Strength 512mg Tablets?
Nurofen Pain Relief Max Strength is a pharmacy medicine containing ibuprofen. Each tablet contains 512mg of ibuprofen sodium dihydrate, which provides 400mg of ibuprofen. It is licensed for mild to moderate pain, including headache, migraine, backache, period pain, dental pain, neuralgia, rheumatic and muscular pain and the pain of non-serious arthritis, and for cold and flu symptoms, sore throat and fever.
How does it help?
Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It lowers the body's production of prostaglandins, chemicals involved in pain, inflammation and fever. In these tablets the ibuprofen is present as a sodium salt. Take one tablet up to three times a day, leaving at least four hours between doses, and no more than three tablets in 24 hours.
Key benefits
- Relieves headache, migraine, backache, period pain, dental pain and muscular pain
- Also eases cold and flu symptoms, sore throat and fever
- One tablet is a full dose, up to three times a day
- Reduces inflammation as well as pain
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not take it if you have ever reacted to ibuprofen, aspirin or another anti-inflammatory painkiller, if you have or have had a stomach ulcer or bleeding in your gut, if you have severe heart, liver or kidney failure, or if you are in the last three months of pregnancy; avoid it earlier in pregnancy unless a doctor advises it. Speak to us first if you have asthma, high blood pressure, heart problems or lupus, if you are 65 or over, or if you take a blood thinner, steroid tablets, low-dose aspirin or another anti-inflammatory painkiller. Each tablet contains sucrose and about 51mg of sodium, so tell us if you have an intolerance to some sugars or are on a low-sodium diet. Do not take more than three tablets in 24 hours. 12 to 18 year olds should see a doctor if they need it for more than 3 days, and adults if they need it for more than 10 days. Our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is supplied.
