What is Nexium Control 20mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets 14?

A gastro-resistant tablet containing esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation in adults. You take one tablet a day for up to 14 days.

How does it help?

Esomeprazole switches off the acid pumps in the stomach lining, so the stomach makes less acid. With less acid to travel back up into the food pipe, heartburn and the sour taste of regurgitation ease. Because it works at the source rather than neutralising acid that is already there, it can take two to three days of consecutive use before you feel the full effect. Swallow the tablets whole with water, or disperse in still water; do not chew or crush them.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For adults aged 18 and over only. Do not take it for more than 14 days without speaking to a doctor, and stop once your symptoms have settled; it is not meant to be taken to prevent symptoms. See your GP before using it if you have unintentional weight loss, repeated vomiting, difficulty or pain on swallowing, vomiting of blood, black stools, jaundice or liver disease, if you are over 55 with new or recently changed symptoms, or if you have needed indigestion remedies most days for four weeks or more. Do not take it with nelfinavir or rilpivirine. Tell our pharmacist about any other medicines you take, including clopidogrel and methotrexate, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
