What is Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo 125ml?
A medicated shampoo containing coal tar, licensed to treat dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp and scalp psoriasis. You use it two to three times a week in place of your usual shampoo, normally for a course of around six weeks.
How does it help?
Coal tar slows the rate at which the scalp produces and sheds skin cells, which reduces the flaking and scaling that shows up as dandruff or as psoriasis plaques. It also has a mild soothing effect on itch and inflammation. Massage it into a wet scalp, leave it on for several minutes, rinse, then repeat and rinse thoroughly.

Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not recommended for children under 12. Do not use on acutely inflamed or broken skin, or if you have erythrodermic or generalised pustular psoriasis. Keep it out of the eyes and rinse well with water if contact occurs. Coal tar can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, so take care in strong sun and avoid sunbeds while using it. It may temporarily discolour grey, blonde, bleached or tinted hair. Stop using it if irritation develops. If your scalp has not improved after six weeks, speak to our pharmacist or your GP before carrying on.
