Hc45 is a 1% hydrocortisone cream for short-term relief of mild to moderate eczema, contact dermatitis and reactions to insect bites.
What is Hc45 Hydrocortisone Cream 1% 15g?
A mild steroid cream containing 1% hydrocortisone acetate, licensed for irritant and allergic contact dermatitis, insect bite reactions and mild to moderate eczema. It is applied thinly once or twice a day for up to seven days.
How does it help?
Hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid. It calms the immune response in the skin, which reduces the redness, swelling and itch of an eczema flare or an allergic skin reaction. Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice a day. It treats the flare rather than the underlying tendency, so keep using your usual moisturiser between flares.
Key benefits
- Relieves itch, redness and swelling from eczema and dermatitis
- Also licensed for reactions to insect bites
- A mild steroid, intended for short courses
- Small tube sized for a seven-day course
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for children under 10 without medical advice. Do not use for more than seven days. Do not use on the face or eyes, on the genital or anal area, on broken or infected skin (including impetigo, cold sores, acne, athlete's foot or infected bites), on large areas of skin, or under a dressing. Long-term, repeated or inappropriate use of steroid creams can thin the skin and, rarely, cause a withdrawal reaction with intense redness, stinging and burning when stopped. If the skin has not improved after a week, or becomes weepy or crusted, see our pharmacist or your GP. Tell our pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
