What is Mycota Cream 25g?

Mycota Cream is an antifungal cream licensed for the treatment and prevention of athlete's foot, the itchy, flaky infection that usually starts between the toes. It is a long-established pharmacy brand and is on general sale, so no age restriction applies on the licence.

How does it help?

Undecylenic acid and its zinc salt act against the fungi (dermatophytes) that cause athlete's foot, stopping them from growing on the skin so the infection clears. To treat an infection, wash and dry the feet thoroughly, then smooth the cream onto the affected area twice a day, massaging it between the toes. Keep going for one week after the skin looks clear to help stop the infection returning. Once cleared, applying it once a day helps prevent it coming back.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For external use only. Keep away from the eyes and mouth and do not apply to broken skin. The cream contains cetostearyl alcohol, sodium laurilsulfate and eugenol (a fragrance ingredient), which can cause local skin reactions or allergy in some people. Stop using it and speak to our pharmacist if the skin becomes very sore or irritated. If the infection has spread to the toenails, or has not improved after a few weeks of regular use, ask our pharmacist for advice.
