What is Migraleve Yellow Tablets 24?
Migraleve Yellow tablets each contain paracetamol 500 mg and codeine phosphate 8 mg. They are the second stage of Migraleve's two-stage migraine treatment: Migraleve Pink is taken first, as soon as an attack starts, and Migraleve Yellow is taken afterwards if the attack needs further relief. This pack holds 24 Yellow tablets.
How does it help?
Paracetamol and codeine are two painkillers that work in different ways: paracetamol relieves pain, and codeine is an opioid painkiller that acts on the brain and spinal cord to reduce the feeling of pain. Migraleve Yellow is for the short-term treatment of acute moderate pain, such as a migraine attack, that paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin alone have not relieved.
Key benefits
- The follow-on dose for continued relief after a first dose of Migraleve Pink
- Combines two painkillers that work in different ways
- Licensed for adults and for children aged 12 and over, with a lower dose for ages 12 to 15
- Supplied as a pharmacy medicine, so our pharmacist reviews your answers before it is dispensed
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Contains codeine, which can cause addiction if taken continuously for more than 3 days. Do not use for more than 3 days; if the pain does not ease, speak to our pharmacist or your doctor. Taking codeine for headaches for more than 3 days can make them worse (medication overuse headache). Not for children under 12. Apart from the Migraleve Pink dose described above, do not take with any other medicine that contains paracetamol or codeine, including cold and flu remedies. Do not use if you are breastfeeding, have a head injury or raised pressure in the skull, severe breathing problems or a blocked bowel, have been told you break down codeine unusually fast, or (if under 18) have had your tonsils or adenoids removed for sleep apnoea. Do not use in pregnancy unless a doctor advises that the benefit outweighs the risk. Take care if you have asthma, epilepsy, liver or kidney problems, or take an MAOI antidepressant, and avoid alcohol while taking it. Codeine can make you drowsy - do not drive until you know how this medicine affects you. Our pharmacist reviews your answers and checks it is right for you before it is dispensed.
