Hirudoid Cream and Gel contain heparinoid 0.3% to soothe superficial bruising and haematoma and to treat superficial thrombophlebitis, an inflamed vein just under the skin.
What is Hirudoid Cream & Gel 50g?
Hirudoid is a topical treatment available as a cream or a lighter gel. Both contain heparinoid, which is licensed to give soothing relief of superficial bruising and haematoma (a collection of blood under the skin) and to treat superficial thrombophlebitis, where a vein near the surface of the skin becomes inflamed and tender. Choose the cream for a richer, moisturising feel or the gel for a cooler, non-greasy finish.
How does it help?
Heparinoid is a substance related to heparin. Applied to the skin, it is thought to help the body break down the clotted blood that makes a bruise dark and swollen, and to calm inflammation in the small vein beneath. Apply a thin layer (about 5 to 15cm of cream or gel) to the affected area up to four times a day and massage in gently.
Key benefits
- Soothing relief for superficial bruising and haematoma
- Licensed for inflamed superficial veins (superficial thrombophlebitis)
- Choice of cream or gel to suit your skin and preference
- Suitable for children from 5 years, under adult supervision
