What is Difflam 3mg Lozenges Orange-Honey 20?
Difflam Lozenges are orange-honey flavoured lozenges containing benzydamine hydrochloride, a local anti-inflammatory. They are used for the relief of pain and irritation of the mouth and throat, such as a sore throat. They are for adults and children aged 6 and over, and are a pharmacy medicine, so our pharmacist checks they are right for you before they are supplied.
How does it help?
As the lozenge dissolves, benzydamine acts directly on the lining of the mouth and throat, where it reduces inflammation and so eases pain and irritation. Let one lozenge dissolve slowly in the mouth without chewing or swallowing it, up to three times a day. Do not take more than three lozenges a day, and do not use them for more than 7 days.
Key benefits
- Works directly on the sore area of the mouth and throat
- Reduces inflammation as well as easing pain
- Orange-honey flavour, sweetened with isomalt
- A simple dose of one lozenge up to three times a day
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for children under 6, and children aged 6 to 11 should take them under adult supervision. Do not take them if you are allergic to benzydamine or any of the ingredients, if you have phenylketonuria, or if you are allergic to salicylic acid or anti-inflammatory painkillers (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen. Talk to our pharmacist first if you have a history of asthma, and contact your doctor first if a doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, as the lozenges contain isomalt. They also contain sunset yellow (E110) and fragrance components that may cause allergic reactions. Do not use them in pregnancy unless your doctor advises it, and do not use them while breastfeeding. Talk to a doctor if you do not feel better, or feel worse, after 3 days, or if you develop a fever. Stop and get medical help straight away if you have sudden swelling of the mouth or throat, difficulty breathing, or a rash.
