Dexcom ONE+ is a small wearable sensor for people with diabetes that measures glucose under the skin around the clock and sends readings and alerts to a compatible phone or optional Dexcom receiver.

What is Dexcom ONE+ Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System?

Dexcom ONE+ is a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system for people living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The single-use sensor is applied to the back of the upper arm (or the upper buttocks for children aged 2 to 6) and worn for up to 10 days, sending glucose readings automatically to the Dexcom ONE+ app on a compatible smartphone or to an optional separate receiver.

How does it help?

A tiny, flexible filament sits just under the skin and measures glucose in the fluid between your cells every few minutes. The sensor sends those readings wirelessly to your phone or receiver, so you can see your current level, the direction it is heading and a history over the day, and set alerts for highs and lows. Each sensor is a self-contained unit with the transmitter built in, so there is nothing to attach separately.

Key benefits

  • Glucose readings sent automatically, day and night, without routine finger pricks
  • Trend arrows and optional high and low alerts help you spot changes early
  • Waterproof rated to 2.4 metres for up to 24 hours when applied correctly, so you can shower, bathe and swim
  • All-in-one design: apply the sensor and connect it to your phone or receiver in a few steps

Who should take care?

Always read the instructions before use. If your symptoms do not match the sensor readings, confirm with a finger-prick blood glucose test before making any treatment decision. Do not rely on readings for treatment decisions if you are taking hydroxyurea, and be aware that higher-than-standard doses of paracetamol can affect accuracy. Remove the sensor before an MRI, CT scan or diathermy treatment, and tell airport security you are wearing a sensor before going through body scanners. Check that your phone is on Dexcom's compatibility list, or use the optional receiver. Speak with your diabetes team before changing insulin or other treatment based on CGM data; our pharmacist can help you decide whether this system fits your care plan, but your diabetes team remains in charge of your treatment.
