What is FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensor?
The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus is a continuous glucose monitor — a small round sensor you wear on the back of your upper arm that measures your glucose all day and night for up to 15 days, and sends the readings to your phone. It replaces routine finger-prick testing for most day-to-day checks. This listing is for one sensor; you will also need the free FreeStyle Libre 3 app on a compatible phone.
How does it help?
A very fine, flexible filament sits just under the skin and measures glucose in the fluid between your cells. The sensor takes a reading every minute and sends it automatically to the app — there is no scanning to do. Because you can see the number and which way it is heading, you can spot a rise or a fall before you would have felt it, and optional alarms can warn you if you go too high or too low.
Key benefits
- Up to 15 days of wear from a single sensor
- A glucose reading every minute, sent to your phone automatically
- Optional high and low alarms so you can act early
- Shows the direction your glucose is heading, not just a single number
- Replaces routine finger-prick checks for most everyday decisions
- No prescription needed when you buy privately
Who should take care?
Always read the instructions for use before applying the sensor. Fit it on the back of the upper arm only, on clean dry skin, and use a new site each time. Do a finger-prick test instead if your symptoms do not match the reading, if the app reports a problem, or if your glucose is changing quickly — and always before driving if you are unsure. Tell our pharmacist if you have a skin condition where the sensor would sit, or if you have ever reacted to a plaster or adhesive dressing. Remove the sensor before an MRI, CT scan or X-ray. This device does not replace advice from your diabetes team: keep taking your medicines as prescribed and speak to them before changing anything. Seek urgent medical help if you are very unwell, cannot keep fluids down, or have symptoms of very high or very low glucose.
