Dermol Cream is an antimicrobial emollient for dry, itchy skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis, and can also be used instead of soap.

What is Dermol Cream 500g?

Dermol Cream is a moisturising cream for dry, itchy skin conditions, especially eczema and dermatitis. As well as softening and protecting the skin, it contains two antiseptics, which is why it is described as an antimicrobial emollient. You can smooth it on as a moisturiser or use it instead of soap when washing.

How does it help?

Liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate form a thin layer over the skin that holds moisture in, so dry, rough areas soften and itch less. Benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine are antiseptics that reduce the number of bacteria on the skin's surface, which can matter when the skin has been broken by scratching.

Key benefits

  • Moisturises and protects dry, itchy skin
  • Contains antiseptics as well as emollients
  • Can be used as a leave-on moisturiser or as a soap substitute
  • Licensed for adults, the elderly, children and infants

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not use it if you have ever reacted to any of its ingredients, particularly chlorhexidine: chlorhexidine can very rarely cause a serious allergic reaction, so stop using it and get urgent medical help if you develop swelling, a widespread rash or difficulty breathing. Keep it away from the eyes. It contains cetostearyl alcohol, which can cause local skin reactions in some people. Take care not to slip when using it as a soap substitute in the bath or shower. Fabric that has been in contact with this cream, such as clothing, bedding and dressings, catches fire more easily, and washing does not fully remove it, so do not smoke or go near naked flames. Our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is supplied.
